The Robert Napier School

Challenger Troop Embrace the Great Outdoors

Students particpating in the successful Challenger Troop scheme enjoyed a residential visit in June and camped in Mereworth MOD Woods.

However, it was no simple camping trip. The troop were kept busy throughout and really got to grips with how to survive in outdoor conditions for an extended amount of time.

Arriving at 4pm, students enjoyed setting up their tents for the evening and choosing a tasty meal from their army ration packs - that they would cook on their own individual Hexi cooker camp fires.

Night time seek and find adventures with Laser Guns used up plenty of energy and slipping into sleeping bags by 10.30pm was welcomed warmly by the troopers.

The following day was spent learning safety rules, campcraft, fieldcraft skills and tactical challenges.

Special mentions must go to the following students;  Jodie Dann, Coylette Sketchley, Robert Miller, Ronnie Cowdry, Billy Gaskin, Kieron Ryan, Adam Byron, Lewis Pearson and Brandon Williams.

A great time was had by all.
